Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 25, 2026
OpenConduit is a locally installed desktop application. We have designed it from the ground up to collect as little data as possible. This policy explains what (if anything) leaves your device and why.
1. Data stored on your device
All of the following is stored only on your device and never transmitted to us:
- Conversation history and messages
- API keys and provider credentials (stored in your OS keychain / app data folder)
- Application settings and preferences
- MCP server configurations
- Personas, system prompts, and routing profiles
2. Data sent to AI providers
When you send a message, it is transmitted directly from your device to the AI provider you have configured (e.g. OpenAI, Anthropic, Google). OpenConduit acts as a local proxy — your messages pass through no OpenConduit server. Each provider's own privacy policy governs how they handle your data.
3. Automatic update checks
OpenConduit periodically contacts updates.openconduit.ai to check for new versions. This request includes your current app version and platform (macOS / Windows / Linux). No account information or conversation data is included. You can disable update checks in Settings.
4. Crash and error reporting
If the app crashes, a sanitized crash report (error type and stack trace with no absolute file paths or personal data) may be sent to our update server. This helps us fix bugs. No conversation content, API keys, or personal information is included. You can opt out in Settings → Advanced → Crash Reports.
5. Feedback submissions
If you use the in-app feedback form (Help → Send Feedback), the title, description, and optional conversation snippet you provide are submitted to our Cloudflare Worker, which opens a GitHub Issue on your behalf. Submitting feedback is entirely voluntary.
6. Live Collaboration (Labs)
When you start or join a live collaboration room (a Labs feature), your messages and the AI responses in that session are relayed through our Cloudflare Durable Object infrastructure to other participants. Room data is held only for the duration of the active session and is not persisted on our servers after all participants leave.
7. Website analytics
The OpenConduit marketing website (openconduit.ai) does not use cookies or third-party analytics. Basic access logs (IP address, page path, timestamp) are retained by Cloudflare Pages for up to 30 days for security and availability purposes.
8. Children's privacy
OpenConduit is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date above and note the change in the release notes.
